Elisabeth Leseur: Elisabeth Leseur was a Frenchwoman who lived from 1866-1914. She was a devout Catholic who was married to an atheist. Her husband and his atheistic friends would tease and criticize Elisabeth for her faith. She decided that she would not antagonize them, but rather, kept her faith inside and released it into a journal. Her husband, Felix, read her diary after she died, and he converted and become a priest. Elisabeth Leseur’s cause for canonization continues to be investigated.

Conversion story of Samuel Hopper: I was troubled by the number of non-denominational Christian churches. Even within the Protestant denominations there has become a wide spectrum of accepted doctrine and belief. The only way to make sense of things was to go back to the beginning, back to ancient times, back to the Early Church Fathers. Each, clearly, believed in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. What else might I have gotten wrong?

John Henry Cardinal Newman, former Anglican. "I have never had a moment's misgiving that the communion of Rome is that Church which the Apostles set up at Pentecost, which alone has the adoption on the sons, & the glory, & the covenants, & the revealed law, & the service of God, & the Promises... Never have I for a moment hesitated in my conviction, since 1845, that it was my clear duty to join the Catholic Church, as I did then join it, which in my own conscience I felt to be divine."

Catholic Convert Moira Noonan left the Christian faith in the mid-1970s and she went on to explore nearly every path of New Age spiritual practice. Her dramatic return to her original faith, culminating in her deliverance from demonic possession at Medjugorje, are the subjects of this absorbing contemporary classic in the literature of spiritual warfare. Noonan's story has been an inspiration to thousands of people who have felt the inadequacy of New Age-inspired road maps to enlightenment.

St. Peregrine, an anti-Catholic, had a conversion as a young man. After experiencing a vision from Mary, he became a priest. He lived and worked, as much as possible, in silence, solitude, and without sitting down for 30 years in attempt to do penance for his early life. A victim of a spreading cancer in his foot, he was scheduled for amputation. He spent the night before in prayer; he received a vision of Christ who touched the diseased area. The next morning, his cancer was completely healed.

The “Full Gospel” by Ernest R. Freeman The Drill Sergeant walked into the barracks and yelled, “Who wants to go to church? Be out front in 10 minutes!” Being an eighteen-year-old raw recruit in desperate need of a break from military training, I decided to go. I assumed it would be a Protestant gathering; to my astonishment it was a Roman Catholic Mass. A sense of alienation set in as the Mass began; it was as if I had been transported to an alternate universe.

Why I Became Catholic (and Not Buddhist)-Written by: Misty-One of the questions I get most often when people hear I’m a convert is, “Why did you choose to become Catholic?” I’ve been asked this question by Jews, Baptists, Mormons, atheists, and even Jehovah’s Witnesses. The person who asks the question never says the rest of it, which is, “Why did you choose to become a Catholic INSTEAD of what I am?” These are people of genuine faith, who believe they have found and are living by The Truth.
